Portside Bar & Grill
About This Spot
Portside Bar & Grill settles gently into the quiet charm of Port Jefferson’s Traders Cove, tucked behind scenic views that offer a calm retreat from the everyday. Arriving here, you might first notice the welcoming ease of a place that never rushes its guests—where the pace is unhurried, and conversations feel natural alongside the gentle clinking of glasses. It’s a gathering spot that balances the comfort of familiarity with a hint of discovery, offering a laid-back atmosphere that invites you to linger a little longer.
The outdoor seating area, shaded and tucked away, is a small sanctuary perfect for sharing moments with friends, family, and even the four-legged companions who find this place’s relaxed vibe just as inviting. Whether you’re settling in on a sunny afternoon or approaching the golden hour, the surroundings offer a gentle blend of rustic charm and village warmth, making it feel like an extended porch where neighbors might stop by for a chat and a bite.
Here, the menu unfolds like a thoughtful nod to the flavors of the coast and comfort food alike. Plates arrive with a sense of familiarity yet surprise—fried calamari with a light crunch, tender steak tacos, or the kind of clam chowder that warms you from the inside out. There’s a quiet joy in sharing a burger combo or savoring wings cooked with care, making each bite part of the relaxed hum of conversation and easy company.
The staff’s friendliness adds a layer of intimacy that feels more like welcoming old friends than service, and the music, carefully curated, sits just right in the background without overwhelming the peaceful setting. It’s the kind of local spot where the atmosphere naturally softens the edges of a busy week, inviting guests to slow down, enjoy good food, and appreciate simple, honest moments.

Tucked behind a beautiful scenic area, you'll find this rustic, Dog friendly restaurant's outdoor seating area. The restaurant has that charming village vibe. Great Sangria Food was delicious too & fairly priced.

Hidden gem! Fantastic location, service, food and drinks! The outside patio seating is perfect for small kids and dogs. Very peaceful and secluded with good music and plenty of shade. I recommend the calamari.
